A Prayer for Rain, Relief, and Protection from Extreme Heat

Heavenly Father, Creator of heaven and earth, source of life and provider of all good things, we come before You with humble and hopeful hearts. Look with mercy upon all nations and communities suffering from Super El Niño, extreme heat, prolonged drought, and water shortages. Remember those whose lives, homes, farms, and livelihoods are threatened by the rising temperatures and lack of rain. Lord, send us the rain we desperately need. Replenish our rivers, lakes, reservoirs, and underground water sources. Nourish our dry lands, restore our crops, and provide enough water for every family and community. Protect the elderly, children, the sick, outdoor workers, farmers, and all those most vulnerable to extreme heat. Give strength to those who are struggling, wisdom to our leaders, and compassion to everyone responding to this crisis. Almighty God, You command the winds and the seas, and all creation is under Your care. In Your mercy, ease the extreme heat, bring relief to our lands, and protect all living creatures from the effects of this climate crisis. Forgive us for the times we have neglected and abused Your creation. Teach us to become responsible stewards of the earth, to conserve water, protect our forests, care for our environment, and share our resources with those in need. At this time of hardship, move our hearts to share more, serve more, and love more. Unite nations, communities, and people of every culture and faith in caring for one another and protecting our common home. Loving Father, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, hear the prayers of Your people throughout the world. May her loving care bring us closer to Your Son, Jesus Christ, our source of hope and peace. May Your mercy bring rain to the dry lands, relief to the suffering, and renewed hope to every nation.
