Embracing Humility in Service to God | Gospel Lk 17:7-10 | Reflection

In this passage, Jesus invites us to reflect on humility in our relationship with God. The servant in the story doesn’t expect special praise or rewards for simply doing his duty. Jesus is teaching us that our service to God should come from a place of gratitude and humility, not a desire for recognition or reward. When we live out our faith—through prayer, acts of kindness, or following God’s commandments—we are fulfilling our purpose as His children, not earning special favor.

This Gospel reminds us to approach God with a servant’s heart, understanding that all we have and all we do is by His grace. Rather than seeking praise for our efforts, we are called to humbly acknowledge that we are simply doing what God has asked of us. This humility deepens our relationship with God, allowing us to serve others selflessly, finding joy in the act of giving rather than in what we might gain.

Prayer:
Lord, grant us the humility to serve You with pure hearts, knowing that all we do is by Your grace. May we find joy in serving You and others, expecting nothing in return but the fulfillment of being Your faithful servants. Amen.
